Record Shattering Pain at the Pump in the Golden State May 16, 2022 In early March, we highlighted the fact that San Francisco had become the first city in America to have gas prices reach the $5 per gallon threshold. San Franciscans would gladly take those prices today. The city by the Bay has blasted through that record and is now paying well over $6 per gallon. According to AAA, folks in San Francisco can expect to pay a hefty $6.21 per gallon of gas. That means drivers of a typical sedan with a 12-gallon tank could be looking to pay $75 just to fill up. But it’s not just tough for people in the Bay Area. The entire state of California is paying through the nose for gas. In fact, Kern County has the lowest average price for gas today, and that number is a staggering $5.91 per gallon. On July 1st, those prices are set to spike even higher as the state gas tax will rise to 53.9 cents per gallon. Americans nationwide are struggling to deal with skyrocketing gas prices. According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of gas hit a record high for the sixth consecutive day. The only answer for these soaring prices is more American energy. The Biden administration must bring down the barriers it’s built to American production. If they don’t, the rest of the country will be catching up to California soon. Back to Blog Posts
