President Biden Celebrates “Down” Gas Prices and Draining More Reserves

May 30, 2024

President Biden’s recent social media post celebrating the decrease in gas prices came as a stark contrast to the reality experienced by travelers over the Memorial Day weekend.  Despite the President’s claim of credit for draining the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve to lower prices, the fact remains that gas prices were higher than any similar period under the previous administration. This is a stark reminder that no other President has depleted the nation’s oil reserves to this extent.

“President Biden may celebrate, but the truth is we paid more for gas this Memorial Day weekend than during any similar time under President Trump,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “To watch Joe Biden run our national reserve closer to empty to score political points is another reminder we don’t have a serious man as our President. Prices are still too high, the world is more unstable, and yet Joe Biden expects cheers while he pulls the plug on our reserves. Americans know better.”

While President Biden’s recent social media post may have touted a decrease in gas prices, the reality faced by American travelers paints a different picture. American families are suffering from high energy prices thanks to Biden’s policies, and releasing more of our strategic reserves is not going to fix the problem; it will eventually create a much bigger one.
