House Members Question Biden’s EPA Grants for “Environmental Justice” Programs May 9, 2024 This week, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Congressman Buddy Carter (R-GA) sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan requesting an explanation about the agency’s controversial “environmental justice” grant programs. The letter requests that the EPA brief the House Energy and Commerce Committee about the $600 million Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program. The Daily Caller exclusively reports “The EPA announced the 11 awardees for the program in December 2023, giving ten organizations $50 million and $100 million to another to use to support other groups in the region advancing “environmental justice,” a concept that has played a large role in the Biden EPA’s regulatory, grantmaking and enforcement agendas. “Environmental justice” is effectively the by-product of climate policy and social justice ideology.” The letter reads, “We write with concerns about the potential for misuse of $600 million in taxpayer dollars from the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (EJ TCGM). Then Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) selection of eleven National and Regional Grantmakers raises further questions about the implementation of this program and the use of taxpayer funds. Based on the EPA’s funding decisions, it appears this program may be funneling billions of taxpayer dollars to radical, far-left organizations whose mission is to protest, disrupt, and undercut United States energy production and leadership, while also freeing up funds to support their extreme activist agendas.” We applaud the House Energy and Commerce Republicans for holding this administration accountable. Biden’s administration has continued to push the limits and waste taxpayer dollars in the name of “climate change.” This administration must be held accountable, or the next thing we hear could be Biden declaring a climate emergency.
