White House Tries to Take Credit for Gas Prices When It’s Convenient but Blames Putin When They Rise

The White House is in total spin-mode. While the administration is quick to try to claim credit for gas prices when it’s convenient, they immediately blame international circumstances when it’s not.

Fox News reports: “Biden economic adviser Amos Hochstein was forced to confront the White House’s conflicting narratives during an interview on Wednesday when he was asked about the administration’s rush to take credit for lower gas prices, despite repeatedly blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin and oil executives when prices were high.”

Hochstein tried to claim the war caused the increase and Biden is fixing the problem. That’s baloney. Gas prices were skyrocketing well before Putin invaded Ukraine.

It’s important to remember that the national average price for a gallon of gas is still a staggering $4.16 per gallon. The only reason prices have begun to fall is that America’s economy is now shrinking because of the Biden administration’s punishing war on energy. The American people can’t afford these historically high fuel prices and the worst inflation we have seen in 40 years.

Fox continues: “’The war in Ukraine is still raging and prices are coming down. What about the idea that this was Putin’s price hike?’ (John) Roberts asked.”

The Biden administration can try to blame others and then turn around and claim credit, but the American people won’t be fooled. We are smarter than that, and we are still paying the price at the pump.
