Support for Energy Workers Includes Not Supporting Anti-Energy-Worker Merchants August 9, 2021 Every day, hundreds of thousands of America’s energy workers’ families go shopping. For food, clothes, wants and needs. For some purchases, it is a quick, in-and-out dance with the store; more ‘buying’ than shopping. For some – mostly larger – purchases, a great deal of research is done, to ensure that the household is receiving the safest, top-of-the-line item possible at the best value. But what if, for all of the research done, the company the family buys from – and spends dollars gained by working in the energy community – then turns around and supports anti-development efforts that could harm that family – and families like theirs – in the long run? There are a number of top-grossing companies who fund eco-left organizations. A few? Patagonia and North Face in clothing; Unilever and Allergen in body health and hygiene; IKEA, Subaru, Volvo, Starbucks and IBM as well. While Power The Future doesn’t have the bandwidth to put together a comprehensive list of anti-development-centric companies, we’d implore our supporters to run a quick Google search before shopping. After all, doesn’t supporting America’s energy workers include not funding those companies who wish to harm America’s energy community? Back to Blog Posts
