Saying Goodbye to the Most Anti-Energy President

Saying Goodbye to the Most Anti-Energy President

January 20, 2025

In the last four years, we have seen record-high inflation and energy prices, and we are looking forward to embracing the next administration’s energy goals. But as President Trump is sworn in, we wanted to revisit some of this administration’s biggest energy failures. Starting off with Biden’s first day in office and all his disastrous executive orders.

Blocking the Keystone Pipeline:

On his first day in office, President Biden made the decision to cancel the Keystone pipeline. This decision cost thousands of jobs and affordable, reliable energy for many Americans. In fact, in 2023, the Biden administration released a report that included a bombshell admission: President Biden’s action to kill the Keystone XL Pipeline killed thousands of jobs for workers and cost billions of dollars.

Inflation Reduction Act:

In 2022 Biden signed the so-called Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law. After two years this bloated eco-left spending bill has done nothing to help the American people.

Results of the failed IRA include:

  • The cost of electricity is higher than when the IRA was signed into law.
  • Inflation is up more than 6 percent since the IRA was signed and more than 20 percent since the Biden-Harris Administration took office.
  • The Biden-Harris Administration promised the IRA would cause the federal deficit to “fall by more than $1.5 trillion” in 2022.
  • After supporting the IRA, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) later blasted the Biden-Harris Administration for its failure.

LNG Export Ban:

Under the heavy-handed Biden-Harris administration, the United States witnessed a chilling shift in our energy policy. Instead of capitalizing on our abundant natural gas reserves, they imposed bureaucratic roadblocks and restrictions on LNG exports. Even after it was blocked in court, the administration still hasn’t lifted the ban. This backward approach didn’t just hit our economy and job market—it emboldened our adversaries and left our allies in the cold. Cutting off our LNG from global markets only handed leverage to foreign producers, many of whom operate without America’s rigorous environmental standards.

Strategic Petroleum Reserve:

The SPR is a crude oil reserve founded for emergency use and to reduce the impact of disruptions in petroleum product supplies. The Biden-Harris administration drained half of our SPR, leaving the United States vulnerable.

Electric Vehicle Mandates:

Over the past four years, we have seen numerous mandates and propaganda campaigns to convince Americans to purchase an electric vehicle (EV). The Biden administration even promised that producing EVs would increase American manufacturing. Instead, we saw layoffs from major automakers. Safe to say, we look forward to a President who allows American families to choose what car works best for their family.

While we can’t go through all of Biden’s energy blunders, the outcome is clear. America is now more vulnerable, and our enemies are richer. The incoming Trump-Vance administration understands this, and real energy leadership is on the way with the nominations of Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Doug Burgum at the Department of Interior (DOI) and Chris Wright as the next Secretary of Energy, we have an energy trifecta to usher in a new era of energy independence.

The incoming Trump administration’s energy plan is a beacon of hope for American energy workers and consumers. Trump is set to usher in a new era of energy leadership. If these actions are carried through, this Trump administration will undoubtedly be the most pro-energy in recent memory, rivaling only his first term, delivering on the promises made to the American people and securing a more prosperous future for energy workers.
