President Biden Should Focus on the People of Maui, Not Climate Rhetoric

August 22, 2023

This week President Biden tore himself away from his vacation to survey the damage from the devastating wildfire in Maui, Hawaii. This comes at a time when eco-left activists are pleading for Biden to declare a climate emergency. His administration is even going as far as to suggest that the fires in Maui were brought on because of climate change.

BreitBart reports,

“John Podesta, the Senior Advisor to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation, took to the White House briefing room podium on Wednesday to blame climate change for the Maui wildfire and to tout the Inflation Reduction Act. Claiming that the summer had brought “one climate disaster after another,” Podesta connected hot temperatures to the fires in Maui, though there is no direct evidence linking climate change to the disaster.”

Evidence suggests the fire was started by electrical lines and may have been made worse due to prioritizing climate electrical transitions supported by Biden. It is also being reported by The Wall Street Journal that the power company Hawaii Electric knew since 2019 that they needed to do more to prevent power lines from emitting sparks. Making the eco-left’s calls for the President to declare a climate emergency that much more ridiculous.

“For Joe Biden to look upon the suffering of the people of Hawaii as an opportunity to push his failed climate agenda is abhorrent,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “Biden may vacation in the home of a billionaire climate donor, but he works for the American people and we’re tired of a President who puts his agenda before facts. No President, not even Joe Biden, should use a real disaster that has claimed the lives of more than 100 people to declare a political emergency.”
