Power The Future Statement On AFL-CIO Letter On “Green New Deal” March 12, 2019 After the AFL-CIO announced their opposition to the Green New Deal, Power the Future Executive Director Daniel Turner released the following statement: “Even the nation’s notoriously liberal labor unions see the obvious problem with the Green New Deal: the plan would absolutely decimate the country’s economy and throw countless American workers out of a job and into poverty. Despite the left’s aggressive outreach, the nation’s labor unions are still unwilling to support the Green New Deal saying it is ‘unrealistic’ and would ‘harm’ millions of working Americans and their families. I applaud AFL-CIO for standing up for workers instead of blindly following Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez off a socialist cliff.
