Pete Buttigieg’s Answer for Everything—Buy an Electric Vehicle July 21, 2022 U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee this week and glorified electric vehicles again. When questioned about the record high gas prices Americans are experiencing, Buttigieg dared to tout the “benefits” of being able to afford an electric car. Fox News reports: “The more pain we are all experiencing from the high price of gas, the more benefit there is for those who can access electric vehicles,” Buttigieg said. This comes after another foot-in-mouth quote from Buttigieg in the fall. “Americans should purchase electric vehicles so they never have to worry about gas prices again.” When will this administration learn that electric vehicles are not a realistic car for all American families? Never mind the hefty price tag to purchase one. But states like Texas that rely too heavily on green energy are being asked to conserve energy during heat waves and not charge their vehicles. The Verge reports: Tesla sent an alert to customers’ in-car screens advising them to avoid charging their vehicles from 3PM–8PM. “A heat wave is expected to impact the grid in Texas over the next few days,” the alert reads, according to electrek. “The grid operator recommends to avoid charging during peak hours between 3pm and 8pm, if possible, to help statewide efforts to manage demand.” Buttigieg is an excellent example of how out of touch this administration is with the American people. While people are worried about rising inflation and gas prices, their solution is for everyone to purchase a $55,000 car. Back to Blog Posts
