Hearings for President Trump’s Energy Leaders Happening Next Week January 7, 2025 President-Elect Donald Trump’s picks to lead his energy agenda will receive confirmation hearings next week. According to Politico, The trio of nominees tapped to lead President-elect Donald Trump’s energy and environment team will get confirmation hearings next week before the Senate, demonstrating the high priority his new administration is putting on implementing its “drill, baby, drill” agenda. North Dakota Republican Gov. Doug Burgum, Trump’s Interior secretary nominee, will go before the Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Jan. 14, according to Democratic staff with knowledge of the process. The Energy Committee will hold a hearing for Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright, nominated to be secretary of Energy, on Jan. 15, the people said. And the Environment and Public Works Committee is holding a hearing for former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, Trump’s pick to run the Environmental Protection Agency, on Wednesday or Thursday of next week. In response, Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future issued the following statement: “It is fantastic to see these leaders receive swift confirmation hearings especially in light of President Biden’s anti-energy actions since Election Day. Governor Burgum, Chris Wright, and Lee Zeldin understand that energy security means national security and they should receive the support of anyone who values American energy dominance. House Minority Leader Jeffries got it right when he said America is too expensive. Last November the people voted to return to affordable, reliable, domestic energy, and we support quick confirmations so these energy leaders can begin delivering a better future for the American people.” For the past four years, the Biden administration has neglected our energy sector. The Senate’s decision to quickly schedule the hearings of all three of Trump’s picks to lead American energy shows its commitment to helping President Trump restore American energy independence. We look forward to all three hearings next week. Back to Blog Posts
