Governor Lujan Grisham Fights to Increase Taxes and Gas Prices to Fund Green Agenda January 19, 2022 Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham outlined her legislative agenda today which will include out-of-touch proposals to raise taxes and further increase the cost of gas. Each of these proposals comes as New Mexico receives $5.3 billion in record tax revenue from the energy industry while Santa Fe leadership makes the state a national leader in unemployment. While Santa Fe is flooded with cash, there’s clearly a drought of common sense from the Governor. These proposals are so out-of-touch it’s difficult to understand why the Governor would even want them, until you remember the Governor is fighting for campaign donations from radical environmentalists first and New Mexico’s families last. As part of Governor Lujan Grisham’s 2022 legislative agenda, she will once again demand the “Clean Fuel Standard Act.” A 2021 analysis of this proposal found it would increase the cost of gas at the pump. As of today, New Mexicans are paying 40 percent more for gas than they were this time last year when the proposal was rejected by the legislature. The Governor is also fighting to raise taxes through the “Land of Enchantment Bond.” While the state enjoys record revenue, this proposal would increase taxes in order to pay for the Governor’s land-grab 30×30 executive order.
