Christmas Wish #4: Bring Back Our Gas Stoves and Restore Consumer Choice December 20, 2024 As we continue checking off our holiday wish list, here’s PTF’s fourth wish for the incoming Trump administration: reverse the Biden-Harris ban on gas stoves. In yet another of their federal overreaches, the outgoing administration decided that your kitchen needed bureaucratic oversight. They advanced a de facto ban on new gas stoves, blaming them for everything from climate change to indoor air quality concerns, all while ignoring that the real impact on the environment and public health was negligible at worst. By dictating what Americans can or can’t cook with, the Biden-Harris agenda put on display their contempt for personal freedom and ignored the practical needs of everyday families. Millions of Americans prefer gas stoves for their affordability, reliability, and better cooking performance. Unfortunately, the last administration saw fit to push yet another restriction that hurts ordinary consumers, not wealthy elites who can afford high-end electric appliances, all in their pursuit to eliminate fossil fuels. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to completely ban the extraction of fossil fuels, so they moved midstream to block their transportation through pipelines, before turning to the end uses including appliances and cars. PTF will not let the eco-left dictate the most important policy area for our country. We call on the incoming Trump administration to reverse this heavy-handed regulation and restore choice to America’s kitchens. By removing arbitrary bans and red tape, we can ensure that consumers—not Washington bureaucrats—decide what appliances best serve their families. This simple step would send a powerful message: the days of reckless, top-down control are over, and the era of trust in the American consumer’s judgment is back. This Christmas, let’s reclaim our freedom to cook, innovate, and live without government meddling in our homes. It’s time to fire up those gas burners once again and ring in the New Year with a renewed respect for personal choice and gratitude for our energy workers who work to keep our homes warm, lights on, and food hot on the stove.
