Christmas Wish #3: Cut the IRA’s Wasteful Spending

December 19, 2024

As we continue our countdown to Christmas, here’s item number three on our holiday wish list for the incoming Trump administration: Cut the waste embedded in the so-called Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The Biden-Harris era has left behind a tangle of green subsidies and pork-barrel giveaways under the guise of “climate action.” Instead of lowering costs or bolstering American energy production, this grab bag of taxpayer-funded handouts funneled millions into foreign-owned wind and solar schemes, progressive firms, and spiked energy prices for everyday Americans.

Let’s be crystal clear: the United States should not be funneling taxpayer dollars into the pockets of a few well-connected cronies. Real progress in energy independence comes from lifting the burdensome mandates on energy production, streamlining bureaucracy, and encouraging market-driven solutions. We should reward innovation and efficiency, not pad the bottom lines of green lobbyists and their overseas benefactors.

This Christmas, Americans deserve relief from runaway spending and pointless red tape. We call on the Trump administration to revisit the IRA, slash its wasteful spending, and restore common sense to our energy policies. By cutting the fat, we can empower American energy workers, revive economic growth, and commit again to national prosperity, not special interests.
