California Blackouts Should Serve as a Warning to New Mexico August 17, 2020 Go green, go dark. That’s the lesson New Mexicans need to learn as California suffers from blackouts during an oppressive heatwave. Over 300,000 homes were without power this weekend as parts of The Golden State reached temperatures well above 100 degrees. According to Forbes, the culprit behind the lack of electricity (when it was most needed) was California’s green agenda: “The two blackouts in less than a year are strong evidence that the tens of billions that Californians have spent on renewables come with high human, economic, and environmental costs.” The news gets worse when you consider those same families without power are paying a premium price to stay in the dark. California families have seen the cost of electricity increase at more than six times the national average over the last decade. Sadly, the eco-left and their allies in Santa Fe have placed New Mexico on the same disastrous road. As California suffers from the predictable outcome, those pushing the green agenda in New Mexico are suspiciously quiet. Back to Blog Posts
