Biden’s War on Truckers Continues April 4, 2024 The EPA announced new regulations on yet another Friday, this time targeting heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks and busses, that are “the strongest-ever greenhouse gas emissions standards of their kind.” Many trucks will now have to be electric and produce zero emissions. As Fox News reported, American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers President and CEO Chet Thompson and American Petroleum Institute President and CEO Mike Sommers stated, “This is yet another example of the Biden administration’s whole-of-government effort to eliminate choices for American consumers, businesses and industries…There is significant uncertainty regarding the technological and infrastructure capability to comply with this rule, which may threaten the speed and cost of goods moving throughout the country.” Currently, less than 1% of new truck sales in the U.S. are zero-emissions, mostly due to their severely limited range and long charging time. Shipping and transportation times could increase dramatically if EV trucks become mainstream. Fox News Digital spoke with Mike Nichols, a Wisconsin-based trucker, who said, “EV trucks don’t do as much work. They’re heavier, so they can’t haul as much. They don’t go as far. They take longer to charge.” Mr. Nichols added that he would be unable to run his business if he were forced to use electric trucks.
