Biden Names Next Climate Czar February 1, 2024 Earlier in the year, it was announced that John Kerry would be stepping down as Biden’s climate czar to help with his reelection campaign. This week, we learned that long-time bureaucrat John Podesta will take on the role. The Washington Post reports, “Podesta, now a senior adviser on clean energy and a veteran Democratic strategist, will remain at the White House rather than move to the State Department in his new role, which has not previously been reported. His new title will be senior adviser to the president for international climate policy. Podesta now oversees implementation of Biden’s signature climate law, the Inflation Reduction Act. The law devoted billions of dollars to accelerating the nation’s transition to wind, solar and other sources of clean energy.” Podesta has been around for a long time and has only hurt American energy. He helped President Obama with the Paris Climate Agreement and assisted President Clinton with his environmental policies. Power The Future Executive Director Daniel Turner slams the appointment, “As if we needed more proof that the green agenda is only about political power, appointing Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman sealed the deal. Appointing John Podesta is another nail in the coffin of Joe Biden’s credibility. He is a political operative who has made a living working inside the climate industrial complex, and his appointment is a sure sign that the green agenda is about to be weaponized for political gain. It doesn’t matter if it’s Kamala Harris in charge of the border, or John Podesta in charge of the climate; when Joe Biden hires someone failure isn’t far behind.” Back to Blog Posts
