Biden Considering Emergency Climate Declaration July 19, 2022 President Biden’s first day in office proved that he has no problem with leading with executive orders and crippling the energy industry. Biden is buckling under pressure from the eco-left and is considering declaring a climate emergency. Reports suggest the emergency declaration could come as early as this week. The Washington Post reports: “The president made clear that if the Senate doesn’t act to tackle the climate crisis and strengthen our domestic clean energy industry, he will,” a White House official, who requested anonymity to describe the deliberations, said in a statement late Monday. “We are considering all options and no decision has been made.” Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) have been very vocal in calling on Biden to take executive action and declare a climate emergency. Both are encouraging immediate action from the executive branch because they cannot get their wish list through Congress. Power the Future’s Executive Director, Daniel Turner, discusses the possibility of a climate emergency executive order. “Declaring a fake ‘climate emergency’ is nothing but a pathetic attempt to seize more government power and make a terrible economic situation much worse… Proponents are pushing this idea because they want to use a fake emergency as a reason to join with their big tech allies and silence rational voices as ‘deniers’ while at the same time delivering billions to their green campaign donors. Joe Biden’s previous terrible executive orders have delivered the worst economy in a generation, it’s past time he put our families ahead of his failures.” Back to Blog Posts
