Biden Admin Drafting Green Executive Order but Won’t Help Struggling Families

Once again, President Biden is focusing on the wrong issues. The Intercept is reporting that the Biden administration is drafting a new executive order invoking the Defense Production Act to alleviate shortages of key minerals needed for green energy technologies like electric vehicles. Since his green agenda can’t pass through Congress, President Biden is considering taking backdoor executive action.

The Intercept writes, “The act, which would bolster the manufacturing capacity of electric vehicle producers in particular, indicates that the administration is open to using executive power to achieve progressive policy goals as Congress remains reluctant to pass key parts of his green energy agenda.”

This conveniently comes after five Democrat Senators including Sen. Markey (D-MA), Sen. Warren (D-MA), Sen. Heinrich (D-NM), Sen. Booker (D-NJ) and Sen. Merkley (D-OR) sent a letter to Biden suggesting the use of powers located in the Defense Product Act.

At a time when American families are dealing with record-high inflation and rising gas prices, the president continues to do everything in his power to please the eco-left. 

Daniel Turner, PTF’s founder and executive director, makes clear that American families will not be convinced to spend huge sums of money on electric vehicles any time soon. They want answers on how this president is going to help with rising fuel prices. 

“While Americans are struggling to pay for gas in the Biden economy, the President remains hellbent on imposing his green agenda on an unwilling electorate,” said Turner. “Joe Biden couldn’t get this through Congress, he can’t unite NATO, and he definitely can’t convince families to spend over $50,000 on a new electric car. In an election year, the President needs to decide if he’s only going to please elements of his radical base or help our families, because he can’t do both. It’s telling how President Biden will sign countless executive orders, but he won’t lift a finger to help America regain energy independence.”

President Biden has relied on executive orders to destroy American energy independence and advance his green agenda, but he won’t do anything to help hardworking Americans. They deserve better.
