Beto Has Desperately Flip Flopped Again On Energy Yet Again May 2, 2019 We’ve already told you how struggling presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke has flip-flopped on energy issue after energy issue, betraying his previous positions to appease the eco-left. Well, he’s done it again. And it’s his most blatant and desperate attempt yet. Just yesterday, O’Rourke caved to the eco-activists demanding he sign a “no fossil fuel money” pledge. The pledge is being sponsored by the Sunrise Movement, the eco-activist “army” backing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal. Last month, O’Rourke refused to sign the pledge, saying, “If you work in the oil fields, you answer the phones in the office, if you’re one of my fellow Texans in one of our state’s largest employers, we’re not going to single you out from being unable to participate in our democracy.” He was entirely right then. Energy workers deserve political representation just as much as anyone else. Now, O’Rourke has signed the pledged and betrayed his own word. It’s insulting that just weeks ago Beto would defend the rights of energy workers, only to throw them to the wolves now that his campaign has lost momentum. It tells us that Beto O’Rourke’s word is meaningless. Whatever his past positions or statements are, it doesn’t matter. He’ll embrace the eco-left if he thinks it’s in his political interests. Principles mean nothing. The problem for Beto is that the left will never be satisfied with O’Rourke because of his pro-energy past. And now that he’s embraced far-left eco-activism in his presidential bid, we can’t trust him anymore to be sane on energy policy and do the right thing. Beto has put himself in a no-win situation, and it doesn’t bode well for his ambitions. 2020 Election Beto O'Rourke Green New Deal Back to Blog Posts
