Another Major Automaker Scales Back EV Plans: Yet Another Sign Americans Aren’t Ready to Go Electric August 21, 2024 In a rebuke of the Biden-Harris administration’s green agenda, Ford Motor Company announced today that it is canceling or delaying many of its electric vehicle (EV) projects. This move again makes clear that consumers aren’t buying the EV hype, despite massive government spending to force these vehicles onto the market and outlaw the internal combustion engine. The Wall Street Journal reports, “Carmakers are trying to strike a tricky balance on electric vehicles. Tougher tailpipe-emissions rules, along with the rapid rise of Chinese EV makers, are pressuring them to invest in the technology. But consumer interest in EVs has waned after a burst of enthusiasm.” Ford now joins General Motors, Toyota, and other automakers in dialing back their EV investments to match reality. Despite billions in government spending, EVs make up less than 8% of all U.S. car sales and nearly half of current EV owners say they want to switch back to a gas-powered vehicle. Now, it’s time for the Biden-Harris administration to listen to American consumers and workers first, not the whims of the eco-left. Back to Blog Posts
