Biden’s DOJ Tries to Bury Solar Scandal Under Cover of Dark

November 27, 2024

In an unfortunately not shocking move for the outgoing Biden-Harris administration, its Department of Justice (DOJ) attempted to cover up a massive solar energy scandal on election night. This scandal, tied to the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project, highlights the administration’s desperate attempt to hide its failures before the incoming Trump administration takes office. It’s time for transparency and accountability. According to an exclusive Breitbart report:

“On Nov. 5, at 5:20 p.m. ET, less than an hour before the first polls closed and when it had become clear from the exit polls that Democrat presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris was likely to lose, an attorney with the Justice Department emailed lawyers for plaintiffs in a qui tam lawsuit aimed at recouping significant losses the taxpayers allegedly incurred from a failed solar plant in Nevada. A qui tam lawsuit is when a private plaintiff sues on behalf of the U.S. Government to recoup taxpayer dollars — often alleging fraud, misuse, or theft of taxpayer dollars.”

The Crescent Dunes project, backed by $737 million in guaranteed loans during the Obama administration, has allegedly cost taxpayers over $200 million, with potential losses reaching $700 million or more. On the hill, Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV) has already demanded answers. Congresswoman Miller said:

“On November 5th, the American people rejected the Biden administration’s radical green new deal agenda and voted for affordable energy. If this project isn’t fulfilling its commitment, the DOJ needs to fully investigate. There must be accountability and transparency for every taxpayer dollar spent by the government, and I look forward to hearing from AG Garland.”

The timing of the DOJ’s decision to dismiss the lawsuit is deeply troubling. It raises serious questions about the administration’s motives and their commitment to holding parties accountable for alleged misconduct. The incoming Trump administration must thoroughly investigate this matter and ensure that taxpayer dollars are not wasted on failed green energy projects. The American people deserve better, and the incoming Trump administration is well-positioned to deliver.
