Why We’re Thankful for Energy Workers This Thanksgiving November 25, 2024 The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and as people travel to visit friends and loved ones, we want to take a second to thank those who make those travels possible: energy workers. Whether it’s a quick drive across town or a long flight across the country, the ability to travel is a privilege, and according to AAA, 80 million Americans will take part in this week. But as we know, travel requires more than just a vehicle or a plane ticket; it depends on the infrastructure energy workers maintain, the gas stations they keep stocked, and the airports they help power. Their unseen contributions make it possible for millions of us to reunite with loved ones, share stories, and create new memories. The men and women who are maintaining power lines in freezing temperatures, operating oil rigs, or down in coal mines rarely take holidays off. Their work keeps everything from our Thanksgiving ovens to our smartphones running smoothly. While we cozy up indoors, they brave harsh conditions to ensure the power grid is stable and that we’re not left in the dark. So, if you are traveling this holiday season, thank an energy worker.
