Biden-Harris Administration Waste Millions for EV Chargers

August 27, 2024

The electric vehicle (EV) market has been shaky and only hangs on thanks to government subsidies. This week, the Biden-Harris administration announced $521 million in grants to prop up the EV charging network. But we have seen this before: in 2021, billions of dollars were allotted from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to construct a nationwide EV charging network. As of March, only seven charging stations had come from the billions of dollars. Now, the current administration is pouring more money into a failing green energy experiment.

The Verge reports,

“Since his election, Biden has vowed to build 500,000 chargers by 2030 as a way to spur more EV sales, including $7.5 billion for charging expansion in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. But the process has been slow going; in March, The Washington Post reported that only seven charging stations with 38 ports have been opened under the administration’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.”

The United States lacks the infrastructure for extensive EV markets, even with billions in government subsidies. Charging stations are few and far between, and consumers are noticing. Just last week, Ford Motor Company announced delays and cancellations for many of its EV projects. But for some reason, the Biden-Harris administration still believes EVs are the future. It is time for an administration that understands what the American people want, and what they want is not electric vehicles.
