16 States Stand Up to Biden Administration Over LNG Rule

Texas and Louisiana are leading a group of 16 states in a lawsuit against the Biden administration’s recent action to halt proposed liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal projects. State Attorney Generals Ken Paxton (TX) and Liz Murrill (LA) argue that this policy is unconstitutional, will negatively impact the livelihoods of thousands of men and women, and will cost the states millions of dollars in lost tax revenue and billions of dollars in lost infrastructure. 

The lawsuit states,

“The LNG Export Ban implicates an issue of profound national importance. LNG exports account for billions of dollars to the economy and thousands of jobs,” and “also raise[s] serious questions of national security.” 

LNG exports strengthen the US economy and boost domestic energy production. It has proven to be essential for aiding allies across the globe, especially following the Russian natural gas boycott undertaken by U.S. allies. 

As Fox News reported, Louisiana State Attorney General Liz Murrill said,

“LNG continues to have an enormous positive economic impact for our state — especially on our hard-hit coastal communities, which continue to recover from a recent series of devastating hurricanes. Jobs like these grow the economy, reduce crime, and help address the out-migration problem…the people of Louisiana are proud to power this nation. I’m ready to fight for them.”

The Biden administration continues to attack an industry that provides thousands of jobs and supports the US economy. These states are justly trying to revive a critical sector of American economic dominance that the Biden administration has wrongly shuttered.
