California Governor Gets Cozy with China October 25, 2023 Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is in China this week, meeting with President Xi Jinping to deepen his state’s relationship with China and to discuss climate change. NBC reports, “The Democratic governor is on a weeklong visit aimed at deepening his state’s work with China on climate change, which in turn he hopes will encourage greater cooperation at the national level. ‘“We’re not going to move the needle on climate change unless the United States and China collaborate together,” Newsom said at a news conference after his meeting with Xi, noting that the two countries produce more than 40% of the world’s carbon emissions.” Families in California are paying $5.38 for a gallon of gasoline, close to $2 more than the national average. All the while, their governor is cozying up to the CCP, even letting them know they can find support from California if things aren’t going well nationally. ‘“I want you to know, regardless of what happens nationally, subnationally, you have a partner in the state of California,”’ he said at an event Monday at the University of Hong Kong.” This isn’t too much of a surprise as last year, Newsom signed off on regulations banning the sale of gas-powered cars in California by 2035, which will make the state more dependent on Chinese-manufactured electric vehicle components. “We assume this trip is so Xi can meet his top salesman of communist-manufactured solar panels and EV parts,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director of Power The Future. “Of course, Gavin Newsom felt a gas-powered jet was the best option because while California pays the worst gas prices in the nation, a governor who runs on hypocrisy is priceless. I guess a Zoom meeting was impossible and the nearest locked-down elite restaurant was booked.” Back to Blog Posts
