Over Thanksgiving Holiday, Biden Administration Announces Deal for Oil from Venezuelan Dictator November 28, 2022 As millions of Americans were gathering with family and friends to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, the Biden administration was making an energy deal with a ruthless dictator. Over the long weekend, the administration announced it would be issuing new licenses to work with Venezuela’s oil company, PdVSA. Mary Anastasia O’Grady writes in the Wall Street Journal, “The U.S. government thinks you’re a fool, dear reader. And not only because it waited until Americans were en route to grandma’s house for Thanksgiving to let news slip of a deal to increase heavy-crude output from joint ventures controlled by a dictatorship allied with Iran. Or that it expects you to believe that Venezuela is considering a return to free elections in exchange.” Venezuela has a terrible human rights record and are not our friends. America doesn’t need oil from dictators, we have it here. But the Biden administration has waged a constant war on American fossil energy production. Just a few years ago, the United States was energy independent and a net exporter of energy. We were energy dominant. Now, we are begging dictators for oil. It’s shameful. Power The Future has the recipe to get American energy production back on track. Last week, we released our Energy Policy Roadmap for the next Congress to return America to energy dominance. It is a comprehensive list of 10 policy actions Congress should take in January. The Las Vegas Review Journal editorial board endorsed our roadmap writing, “House Republicans should pay heed. The quicker they act, the quicker they can offer voters a clear alternative to Mr. Biden’s destructive, expensive and self-defeating energy agenda.” “While Americans were paying much more for their Thanksgiving dinner, Joe Biden was making a deplorable deal with a dictator for more oil,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “For nearly two years, President Biden has begged and schemed with foreign powers for more oil but not once has he reached out to America’s energy workers to help them unleash our power. It’s clear Joe Biden won’t recognize his man-made crisis, so the next Congress must stand up on day one.” Rather than getting oil from dictators, let’s jump start American energy. Back to Blog Posts
