Biden Policies Could Soon Lead to a “Super-Spike” in Natural Gas Prices August 31, 2022 The Biden administration’s war on American energy has already resulted in a summer of record shattering gasoline prices. Back in June, the national average price at the pump soared to over $5 per gallon. As colder weather sets in this fall, Americans should now prepare to see a similar “super-spike” in natural gas prices. Last week on the CNBC show “Power Lunch,” Neal Dingmann of Truist highlighted the coming price hike. He said, “Natural gas prices have hit 14-year highs and we don’t even think that’s the end of it. We could see a super-spike potentially this winter that would put them back to 20 or 25-year highs.” Most Americans don’t track the price of natural gas as closely as they do the price of gasoline or diesel, but it’s just as impactful for them. It’s estimated that 177 million Americans use natural gas to heat their homes, cook their food, and provide hot water. As temperatures drop this autumn, Americans will feel the pinch in their pocketbooks from soaring natural gas prices. This surge in prices is happening because the Biden administration is doing everything in its power to block natural gas production. They have refused to make energy leases on public lands available, and the administration’s bureaucrats are using every lever at their disposal to block future projects. Earlier this year, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) tried to ram through a regulation that would have made building new natural gas pipelines nearly impossible. Come this winter, the American people will see the consequences of the Biden administration’s extreme efforts when they get their natural gas heating and power bills in the mail. Back to Blog Posts
