John Kerry, Biden’s Climate Guru, Again Prioritizes Climate Change Over Ukraine May 31, 2022 John Kerry, the U.S. special climate envoy, continues to put his foot in his mouth. Kerry has repeatedly made insensitive comments regarding the war in Ukraine and climate change. When the war began, Kerry was more concerned about people losing focus on climate change. He spoke with the BBC, stating: “It could have a profound negative impact on the climate obviously. You have a war and obviously you’re going to have massive emissions consequences to the war. But equally importantly you’re going to lose people’s focus. You’re going to lose, certainly, great country attention because they will be diverted, and I think it could have a damaging impact.” He would go on to say: “I hope President Putin will help us stay on track with respect to what we need to do for the climate.” Last week, Kerry spoke at the World Economic Forum and continued to prioritize climate change over the humanitarian crisis happening in Ukraine. Reuters reports that Kerry said: “No one should believe that the crisis of Ukraine is an excuse to suddenly build out the old kind of infrastructure that we had … we have to be much smarter than that given the stakes.” Green energy is clearly at the top of this administration’s mind. And not even war will make them stray from their eco-left talking points. Back to Blog Posts
