At Least Deb Haaland is Honest about the Biden Administration’s War on Energy

At least Interior Secretary Deb Haaland is being honest about the Biden administration’s war on American energy workers. Today, she told Congress that the Interior Department has no immediate plans to hold another offshore oil and gas lease sale and she completely dismissed the idea of expanding leasing in the future.

While testifying before the House Appropriations Committee, Haaland said “I feel the oil and gas industry is set.” She also repeated the administration’s bogus claim about the number of permits available to the industry.

The Washington Examiner writes, “Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said the oil and gas industry is ‘set’ with the amount of oil and gas drilling permits at its disposal and defended the Biden administration’s actions to scale down the federal leasing program.”

When asked if the administration would hold more offshore lease sales, she responded: “no decisions have been made.” A politician’s response for absolutely not.

President Biden and his White House have blocked energy production on federal lands at every turn. Even a holiday weekend announcement claiming they were restarting onshore lease sales also included a hike in royalty fees and severely limited the land available. They have no interest in increasing oil and gas production on federal lands and waters. Deb Haaland is just making that clear for everyone.
