$1 Million Giveaway to the Rich is New Mexico’s First “Green” Bill of 2022 January 4, 2022 When you’re an eco-leftist, if Santa Claus doesn’t deliver, Santa Fe will. It sure didn’t take long for the environmental handout wishes to start coming true as the first green subsidy bill for the upcoming legislative session is now a reality. New Mexico Representative Debra Sariñana is first out of the gate with the “Energy Storage System Tax Credit.” Rep. Sariñana’s bill would provide a total of $1 million in tax credits per year for homeowners who install batteries with their home energy systems. Each taxpayer would be eligible for a $5,000 credit and if the million-dollar cutoff is reached, they could get their credit later. No doubt eco-leftists will cheer this idea to help more people buy “affordable” solar for their homes. However, it’s clear this is nothing more than a huge tax break to the rich. A 2021 study found the median income for a solar adopter in the US was $113,000 a year, while the average income for New Mexico is less than $53,000. The next time eco-leftists tell you how their solutions are affordable, ask them why the rich need a tax break to buy solar batteries. New Mexico Back to Blog Posts
