Report: New Mexico now paying 13th highest electric rate in the country November 15, 2021 Across the world, the green agenda comes with a price and New Mexico is no different. According to Choose Energy, families in the Land of Enchantment paid the 13th highest electric rates in the country. To make matters worse, while the cost of electricity across the United States rose .4 percent, the cost in New Mexico skyrocketed ten times higher. Higher electric bills are the result of New Mexico’s Energy Transition Act championed by Governor Lujan Grisham and her environmental supporters. Proponents of the law promised it wouldn’t raise electric rates, but it’s now clear they were either ignorant or intentionally misleading New Mexicans.
