New Mexico Governor Earns Wind Award as Over 200 Energy Workers Lose Their Job August 14, 2020 New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is being named a “Wind Champion” as over 200 of her constituents find out they no longer have a job. Gov. Lujan Grisham’s wind award comes from the Washington, D.C. based group ‘Powering New Mexico.’ Yes, you read that right, they call themselves Powering New Mexico but if you want to get in touch with them, you’ll find them in DC. The wind award makes perfect sense when you realize the American Wind Energy Association has handed over thousands of dollars to Gov. Lujan Grisham. The news comes just as 230 New Mexico workers employed at one of two of the state’s oil refineries find out they no longer have a job. We’re sure the fact their Governor is a “Wind Champion” will make these newly unemployed families feel much better. New Mexico Back to Blog Posts
