They are also essential to creating solar panels, electric cars, and other green tech that the eco-Left insists we must use to stop climate change. However, China controls the vast majority of both the mining and processing of these rare earths. Yes, the country that lied about Covid-19, engages in gross human rights abuses, and is currently our adversary in a trade war controls our access to critical resources. China could cut off our supply of rare earths at any time, and while the eco-Left acknowledges the problem, they also insist on hindering attempts to increase mining and processing at home. This dependence threatens our economy and national security, and if the eco-Left has their way, our energy supply.
