Joe Biden’s War on a Thriving Industry December 20, 2019 In September, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said that he supports a total ban on fossil fuels. On his campaign website, it says that “The Biden Administration will take action against fossil fuel companies…” Biden doesn’t seem to realize that this would actually mean taking action against American workers, their families, and the economy. Last night, during the Democratic presidential debate, Biden reiterated his opposition to the natural gas and oil industry. The Washington Examiner reports: Joe Biden told a debate moderator during Thursday night’s Democratic debate that he’d be willing to sacrifice up to hundreds of thousands of jobs if it meant transitioning to a green economy. Biden made this claim after being asked about the role that new discoveries in domestic oil and natural gas have played in the enormous economic growth that America has been sustaining. Clearly, maintaining this growth in jobs and wages is not a priority for Biden. “The answer is yes,” Biden said. “We should, in fact, be making sure right now that every new building built is energy contained, that it doesn’t leak energy, that in fact we should be providing tax credits for people to be able to make their homes turn to solar power…We have enormous opportunities.” What Biden is missing, as are most of the Democratic candidates, is that the real opportunity is in a thriving industry that is producing real results for Americans, including supporting around 10 million jobs and generating $180 billion in revenue last year. This is a real opportunity, and one that needs to be taken advantage of – not smothered, and especially not banned entirely. Joe Biden Back to Blog Posts
