The Left’s Legal Assault on Fossil Fuels October 25, 2019 Eco-extremists have now taken their climate agenda to the courts since they’ve continuously failed to get votes. The New York Attorney General’s lawsuit against Exxon kicked off Tuesday, and Fox Business Network anchor Stuart Varney stated it amounts to little more than a thinly-veiled “Soviet-style show trial” meant to advance a socialist takeover of the U.S. economy. The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board covered the trial, writing: This saga began more than three years ago when 20 state AGs and Al Gore held a press conference to launch an investigation into unproven newspaper claims that Exxon had hidden from the public evidence of climate harm it knew to be true. The goal was to equate Big Oil with Big Tobacco and eventually run it out of business. This lawsuit is clearly a part of a bigger political agenda the Left has orchestrated to stigmatize the fossil-fuel industry in hopes of turning the public against it. Varney went on to state “Where’s the progress in ruining the energy companies which fuel America’s prosperity? What do you think $10 [per gallon] gas would do to working families because that’s what we’re going to get if progressives get their way.” The result isn’t progress at all but instead a regression of American energy dominance, massive loss of energy jobs, and an extreme rise in energy costs for all Americans.
