Bad Bills Defeated in Washington March 2, 2018 Earlier this week Power The Future submitted several Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to various officials in Washington State about their Carbon Tax proposal. Good news: the bill died in the State Senate. Bad news (for some…): we are still going to investigate the behind the scenes operations of this disastrous proposal. And if we find anything…let’s call it “unusual” we will use our ever-expanding platforms to share it. It’s not a surprise this job-killing bill failed. It’s not for a a democrat or republican reason, it’s a PEOPLE reason. Ideology should not punish people. Time and again we see the ideology of billionaire activists decimate rural America closing their coal mines and taking away land access. Who suffers? People. People who yesterday had a job, and today have pink slips. Of course the Washington State Senate voted against this. Who can face a constituent and said “I so strongly believe X that I just made your life expensive and killed jobs across the State!” No one would vote for that person outside of a rigged communist election. This bill would add an estimated ten cents to the cost of every gallon of gas purchased. It would drive electricity costs up 2%. These are ideologies-not policies that help people. Back to Blog Posts
