The Big Picture

The Big Picture

January 13, 2020

Day-to-day news can often make us lose sight of the big picture, and that has certainly been the case with the natural gas and oil industry. Constant protests and lawsuits have somehow overshadowed what really matters – the revolution we currently find ourselves in.

Forbes reports:

Twenty years ago, it was faddish for people in the oil business to talk about the then-assumed fact that “all the elephants have been found,” with the word “elephant” referring to massive reserves of crude oil and/or natural gas…As things have turned out, there were and are still elephants out there around the world, and the oil and gas industry keeps finding them.

Nowhere is this boom more alive than in the United States. In fact, the levels of proved oil and natural gas reserves and production have been record-setting. In 2018, proved oil reserves surpassed the previous record set in 2017 by 12%, and production of oil in 2018 grew over 2017 levels by 17%. Simplified, these numbers mean a few important things: higher wages, more jobs, and more opportunity for hard-working Americans.

So, bottom line, the world is in the midst of one of the largest oil and natural gas booms of modern times. It is a boom that will continue to promote global prosperity and security for many years to come.

We can’t allow the latest protest, or lawsuit, or speech attempting to vilify this industry let us lose sight of the big picture – we are in the middle of a rare opportunity and we have to take advantage of it, not place restrictions on it.
