Green for Me, But Not for Thee

Green for Me, But Not for Thee

September 13, 2024

In the latest instance of our nation’s attempted “green transition,” driven by coastal elites, desert community residents are up in arms over a solar developer’s plans to destroy thousands of ancient Joshua trees. This clear reckless renewable energy development scheme is both approved and driven by Washington, D.C., and Sacramento liberals and, if built, would permanently alter the beautiful landscape that residents hold dear.

When Governor Gavin Newsom parades around the state (and whatever news channel that will have him) claiming credit for transitioning to “green” technologies, he conveniently leaves out the real effects they have on the environment. While Governor Newsom’s daily life may not be affected, the locals who have to deal with the destruction of beauty in their backyards certainly will. He sold Californians a vision of a clean, green future, but the reality is that bulldozers mowing down irreplaceable, centuries-old Joshua trees is anything but. This is the true face of the radical green agenda: destruction of the natural world in the name of progress.

In a recent Fox News report:

“Locals around the area voiced concerns not only about the loss of iconic landmarks but the devastation to the environment as well. Others warned about the threat of valley fever, a respiratory infection that could be caused by excessive dust from the construction.”

This project is yet another reminder that renewable energy projects are not as friendly to the environment as they promise and, in fact, rarely ever are. While elites promise clean energy for all, local communities witness irreversible habitat destruction. This should serve as a wake-up call that radical and short-sighted politicians should not be allowed to determine the course of our nation’s energy future.
