New Mexico Senator Supported Troubled Green Law Due To “So Much Pressure” From Environmentalists January 5, 2021 It took them nearly two years, but supporters of the controversial Energy Transition Act are finally telling a little truth. As we told you yesterday, three New Mexico eco-left state Senators penned an op-ed outlining “surgical” changes they want to make to the state’s “mini” Green New Deal. Their reason? They just now realize electricity costs are going to go way up. However, Senator Bill Tallman also finally told the truth behind the passage of the law back in 2019, telling the Santa Fe New Mexican: “there were so many bills and so much pressure from environmental groups to pass this bill” that he voted for it, despite having some questions about some of its content. Senator Tallman knew the law was troublesome, but radical environmentalists pressured him and others to pass it anyway. It’s important to keep in mind Sen. Tallman isn’t a moderate, he still celebrates the loss of energy jobs associated with the bill. However, the fact these admissions are coming from eco-left lawmakers makes them all the more stunning. One thing is clear: If those who were pressured by the eco-left had the courage to stand up in 2019, New Mexico would be better off today. New Mexico Back to Blog Posts
