While Omicron Rages, Alaska’s Resource and Energy Workers Diligently and Safely Press On

January 18, 2022

Alaska’s energy community is incredible.  Working across the state in weather and other conditions that would make mere mortals turn and run back to their Lower-48 job sites, our workers continue to produce.

Whether their job helps to pump nearly a half-million barrels of oil down the Trans-Alaska Pipeline daily, bring world-class deposits of gold, zinc, copper or coal to market or keep lights, heat and other creature-comforts up and running, our men and women deliver day after day.

When Covid-19 first hit our state, the levels of safety and disease suppression were exceptional.  Job sites continued to operate – albeit under strict well-being guidelines – even as other industries shuttered doors and reevaluated their business in the face of the pandemic.

With today’s Omicron variant infecting record numbers of Alaskans, our energy workers continue to put safety first, while maintaining their output and work-product.  While all job sites across the state continue to have mitigation plans in place, few have had to take exceptional measures with Omicron.

Now, we just need to fight back with the same diligence and effort against the attacks coming from Washington, D.C. and the Biden Administration, as they seek to dim Alaska’s bright energy future.
