We Still Don’t Know Where Biden Stands September 30, 2020 Last night, during the first presidential debate, was the first major opportunity for our two candidates to make their pitch to swing voters. This is especially important for Vice President Biden, who has consistently flipped flopped on a variety of issues – particularly regarding energy. The Hill reports on exactly how inconsistent Biden has been on his energy plan, especially when it comes to fracking. Biden is particularly opaque on a future for the fracking industry if he becomes president. Speaking recently to an audience in western Pennsylvania, Biden said he would not ban fracking. However, at other times he has indicated that he wants to ban or severely curtail fracking and has told voters, “I guarantee you that we’re going to end fossil fuels.” But, last night during the debate, Biden stated: Nobody’s going to build another coal-fired plant in America. No one’s going to build another oil-fired plant in America. They’re going to move to renewable energy. The American people deserve a president who is consistent – Biden’s flip flopping is not only disingenuous, but it leaves millions of workers unsure of their future. President Trump has stated, and more importantly shown, time and time again that one of his top priorities is encouraging the natural gas and oil industry and all of its workers. What is Biden’s plan regarding this massive, critical industry? Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, we still don’t know. Back to Blog Posts
