U.N. Accelerates Climate Funding Plans in Preparation for Trump Presidency

November 25, 2024

The U.N. is rushing to push through any climate-change projects and funding while the Biden-Harris administration is still around. The U.S., Europe, and several other nations have committed to tripling their funding for climate-change initiatives in developing countries, aiming to provide $300 billion by 2035. This is a desperate move, and it was formed because they understand that President-elect Donald Trump has no sympathy for green handouts.

The Wall Street Journal reports,

“The Trump campaign pledged to pull the U.S. out of the Paris agreement, and his administration, backed by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and Senate, is likely to cut U.S. climate financing over the next few years, fueling doubts about America’s ability to fulfill the Baku agreement, at least in the near term.”

With Trump’s promise to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, it is no wonder countries were panicking and trying to force more money out of our current administration.

“Trump’s presidency loomed in the background of the talks. That put pressure on negotiators to hammer out a deal while diplomats of the Biden administration were on the scene. U.S. officials said they wanted to reach a deal that, even if it is repudiated by Trump, can be accepted by a future Democratic administration.”

This is the exact issue we are highlighting on Lame Duck Watch. Election Day showed Americans rejecting the Biden-Harris administration’s policies, yet this administration traveled around the world to spend $300 billion of our tax dollars. This is unacceptable, and we look forward to the next administration ending this frivolous green spending.
