Tom Steyer Is Definitely Running For President November 20, 2018 After failing at his efforts to push a radical environmental agenda in the midterms, billionaire hedge fund manager Tom Steyer is doubling down on politics, and is increasingly looking like an actual candidate for president. Steyer today is reportedly taking “several steps toward a 2020 presidential bid,” announcing a six-figure ad buy and a tour around the country, including to the early primary state of South Carolina. Steyer also released another direct-to-camera TV ad advocating for the President’s impeachment. Steyer put $123 million into the midterms behind “green” ballot initiatives and far-left candidates like Andrew Gillum. But he lost across the board. Steyer-backed gubernatorial candidates in Florida, Georgia and Arizona lost, Washington State voters defeated a proposed carbon tax, and Coloradans roundly rejected a proposition to curb fracking in the state. A renewable energy ballot measure in Arizona also failed by 15 points. It seems Tom Steyer thinks the only thing missing from his failing political activity and environmental agenda…is that it needs more Tom Steyer. Back to Blog Posts
