The Great Eco-Scam Comes Crashing Down
For years, the eco-left has demanded trillions in taxpayer subsidies, shut down critical infrastructure projects, and smeared American energy workers, all in the name of “saving the planet.” But now, one of the loudest voices in that movement, Greenpeace, is facing financial ruin, and the truth is coming out: it was all a fraud that actively participated in violent, illegal, and damaging activities.
As Fox News reported, Greenpeace was hit with a staggering $660 million fine after a North Dakota jury found them liable for orchestrating and bankrolling the violent and disruptive protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016. On one side of the debate, was a law-abiding company with all the requisite permits from local, state, and federal governments just seeking to undergo lawful commerce. On the other, was a gang that had no respect for the law, harassed workers, and used violence because they were so empowered and self-righteous that they could not see what everyone else saw: that they are violent criminals who should pay the price.
The jury agreed with the pipeline developer, Energy Transfer, that Greenpeace went far beyond peaceful protest, engaging in a campaign of destruction, misinformation, and economic sabotage that harmed workers, tribal communities, and the American energy economy.
“It is also a win for all law-abiding Americans who understand the difference between the right to free speech and breaking the law,” an Energy Transfer spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “That Greenpeace has been held responsible is a win for all of us.”
This isn’t an isolated incident. Greenpeace also:
- Paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in the UK after activists unlawfully scaled a Shell oil rig.
- Lost a major lawsuit in Norway after trying to use a constitutional argument to block Arctic drilling—and failed at every single level.
- Failed to deliver results in high-profile legal fights, despite millions in dark money funding and elite political connections.
Now the organization is claiming victimhood. Greenpeace USA admits they “don’t have $660 million” and insists the ruling is an attack on free speech. But nobody is buying it anymore. This isn’t about silencing dissent. It’s about holding powerful, well-funded “nonprofits” accountable when they deliberately break the law and harm everyday Americans.
“This case should alarm everyone,” Greenpeace’s U.S. director warned. No, it should relieve every American tired of watching extremist groups wreck our economy under the cover of activism. This isn’t a glitch in the green machine. It’s a feature and a core tenant.
Just two years ago, a film literally titled, “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” won widespread praise in Hollywood and amongst the eco-left. Most would just call that promoting domestic terrorism.
Whether it’s grifting green banks, failed decarbonization scams, or now a broke, law-breaking Greenpeace, the pattern is clear: the eco-left was never about results. It was always about power and politics.
Let this be a warning to every activist group that thought they were above the law: your days of unchecked destruction are over. Accountability is back, and American energy is here to stay.
