The Democrats’ Massive Spending Bill Includes $20 Billion in New Energy Taxes

The Senate Democrats’ massive spending legislation, which passed on a party-line vote over the weekend, includes huge tax hikes on energy according to a new analysis.

The Federalist reports: “Democrats’ colossal spending package dubiously named the “Inflation Reduction Act” includes plans to spike energy prices with nearly $20 billion in new taxes. According to an analysis by the conservative fiscal group Americans for Tax Reform, the $750 billion-dollar bill imposes $19.7 billion in tax hikes on American energy.”

At a time when energy prices are already skyrocketing because of the Biden administration’s war on American fossil fuel production, massive new taxes are the last thing the American people need. These new taxes will only make the situation much worse. They will be passed onto consumers in the form of higher energy costs.

“Sadly, with once-in-a-generation inflation, our families have been suffering under a green tax for well over a year,” said Larry Behrens, the communications director of Power The Future. “Make no mistake, this is what happens when you turn the economy over to the architect of the Solyndra fiasco.”
