“Second Wave” Of Shale Revolution Will Continue US Energy Dominance March 12, 2019 The energy industry in the United States is already booming, and now some are predicting that it’s going to get even better. Earlier this year, we told you that thanks to major growth in domestic energy production – largely due to fracking and increased shale production, especially in the Permian regions of Texas and New Mexico – the U.S. is on the verge of becoming energy independent. Oil production is at an “all-time high,” and under President Trump, we’ve already become a net exporter of natural gas. A new report from the International Energy Agency finds that the U.S. will account for 70 percent of the growth in global oil production in the next five years, as well as 75 percent of the growth in natural gas exports. The IEA is calling the predicted major growth a “second wave of the shale revolution.” “The second wave of the shale revolution is coming,” said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol. “It sends a lot of shock waves.” The study predicts that “By 2021, the United States will become a net exporter in crude oil and refined crude products,” and that by 2024, we will surpass Russia and “nearly” match Saudi Arabia in crude oil exports. Just take a second to process this. For decades, we fought wars overseas and spent massive amounts in tax dollars to secure oil access and combat dangerous regimes threatening to wreak havoc on world oil markets. Politicians from both parties promised we’d become energy independent, but it always seemed to be an elusive campaign goal. Thanks to major technological innovations and an energy-supporting President, we are now on track to make this vision a reality. It’s an astounding achievement for America, and it would not be possible without the hard work of millions of energy workers across this country. Of course, this is not welcome news to the radical green movement. Billionaire ideologue Mike Bloomberg, recently rejecting a Presidential bid, announced a plan to spend part of his fortune to move America “Beyond Carbon”. He will sell this message with multiple private jet trips across the country. And groups like Sierra Club, Green Peace, National Resources Defense Council and Center for Biological Diversity, will continue to push lawsuits and hire protesters to stop America’s energy revolution. We will do our part to expose these groups and their political agenda, and to protect the jobs of America’s energy workers. To those who work every day to make American energy independence a reality, Power The Future thanks you! Energy independence Back to Blog Posts
