President Biden is One Step Closer to Fully Banning Gas Cars April 12, 2023 The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to announce new vehicle emission standards today. The new ruling would force electric vehicles (EVs) to make up at least 54% of new car sales by 2030 and 66% by 2032. The Associated Press reports, “The Biden administration will propose strict new automobile pollution limits this week that would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030 and as many as two of every three by 2032, according to industry and environmental officials briefed on the plan. The proposed regulation, to be released Wednesday by the Environmental Protection Agency, would set greenhouse gas emissions limits for the 2027 through 2032 model years for passenger vehicles that would be even stricter than goals the auto industry agreed to in 2021.” The EPA ruling comes just over a year since the White House declined to answer if President Biden personally owned an EV. Americans are dealing with record-high inflation, and forcing this new rule on families will do nothing to help the financial load. In addition, a recent poll found that 58% of Americans say they don’t plan to buy an EV. The cost and insufficient charging stations are the two main reasons for not wanting to buy an EV. According to Kelley Blue Book, the average price of an electric vehicle was $61,488 in 2022. “Biden’s newest power grab is the latest attempt to force a green agenda on an unwilling electorate in order to reward his eco-extremist supporters,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director of Power The Future. “Despite massive tax breaks and flattering coverage in the media, EVs simply cannot compete in the free market. If Joe Biden is going to force Americans to give up their preferred mode of transportation, Congress should mandate the White House and every member of the Biden Administration drive EVs exclusively and immediately.” Back to Blog Posts
