Oil and Natural Gas Deliver Record Surplus for New Mexico, Hypocrites Expected to Spend August 30, 2021 The numbers don’t lie. New Mexico is once again the beneficiary of a record budget surplus thanks to the state’s oil and natural gas workers. A state legislative committee reported New Mexico is on track to take in $8.8 billion dollars in revenue. This increase means the state now has an additional $1.4 billion to spend next year. This massive opportunity for New Mexico’s schools, infrastructure and public safety would be impossible without the oil and natural gas industry. That is the very industry massively funded eco-left groups, and their political allies, are continually trying to destroy. In fact, it wasn’t even a year ago when New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said the state “should transition out of fossil fuels.” Yet, it’s only a matter of time before Lujan Grisham and her fellow eco-leftists quickly line up to take credit for spending every dollar produced by the industry. Politicians like Lujan Grisham constantly talk about transitioning, yet they never seem to transition away from the money. It’s just another example of eco-leftist hypocrisy.
