New Mexico’s Largest Utility Asks Residents To Turn Up the Heat Due to Solar Failure on a Cloudy Day

Despite triple-digit temperatures forecast for areas of the state, New Mexico’s largest utility is asking families to keep the thermostat turned up higher in their homes. In a Facebook post, PNM says forecasted clouds mean the utility’s solar panels won’t be able to produce the power New Mexicans could need. 

Sadly, New Mexico’s families must continue to face the real consequences of pushing an agenda that doesn’t provide power when we need it most. It’s inconceivable that while our children are forced to stay home to go to school, our families have to endure higher temperatures because radical environmentalists and their allies in Santa Fe didn’t account for a cloudy day.

With strong support from PNM, New Mexico enacted the Energy Transition Act (ETA) which will force New Mexicans to further rely on unstable power sources while killing jobs all over the state.

The PNM post comes on the same day Governor Lujan Grisham stood in front of a solar panel array to support laws like the ETA. It also comes less than a week after millions of California’s families were forced to endure rolling blackouts because renewable sources were unable to produce needed electricity.
