Kamala Harris Endorses The “Green New Deal” January 29, 2019 Last week we told you about how every single major declared liberal 2020 presidential candidate had endorsed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s extreme “Green New Deal,” except for California Senator Kamala Harris. The Sunrise Movement, the green group Ocasio-Cortez has been plotting with to create the “Green New Deal,” even called out Kamala on Twitter, demanding that she support the plan. We noted that it was inevitable Harris shift her position to the left. Well, it didn’t take long for the peer pressure to get to the Senator from California. Last night during a town hall on CNN, Kamala Harris joined her fellow 2020 liberals and endorsed the “Green New Deal.” “I support a Green New Deal,” she said during a town hall in Iowa. Harris then “doubled down” in a tweet after the town hall, posting, “I support a Green New Deal. Climate change is an existential threat to all of us, and we have got to deal with the reality of it.” Harris doesn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that the “Green New Deal” is unworkable, extreme and costly. A new report from the American Action Forum finds that just one component of the “Green New Deal” alone, forcing 100 percent renewable energy, would “require at least $5.7 trillion” – more than the entire yearly federal budget. The regulations needed to implement a “Green New Deal” could cost at least an additional $1 trillion. This doesn’t include the cost of a government takeover of healthcare (which Harris also supports) or instituting a basic income scheme, both aspects of the plan. Kamala Harris’ decision to bow to left-wing peer pressure shows that she prioritizes appeasing the interests of the far-left and is unconcerned with promoting reasonable energy policy. It seems the entire field of 2020 candidates so far is willing to raise taxes, raise energy prices and crush good-paying jobs in the name of politics. Will any 2020 liberal stand up to this?
